Botox®, Dysport®, Xeomin® is a treatment to temporarily improve the appearance of both moderate to severe frown lines between the brows, horizontal forehead lines and crows-feet lines in adults. Botox®, Dysport®, Xeomin® is derived from sources that exist in nature. It consists of tiny amounts of highly purified botulinum toxin protien refined from the bacterium, Clostridium Botulinum.
How Botox®, Dysport®, Xeomin® works:
Botox® and Dysport® targets the underlying causes of frown lines, horizontal forehead lines and crows feet, by blocking signals from the nerves to the muscles. After injected, Botox®, Dysport®, Xeomin® will smooth and relax your expression lines within 48-72 hours. The full effect can take up to two weeks and can last up to four months. How we use Botox®, Dysport®, Xeomin®
Frown Lines
This muscle between your eyes acts like an “accordion” pulling your these muscles together and apart as you frown. We will administer a minimum of five injections into the muscle that creates those frown lines (also known as the 11s).
Horizontal Forehead Lines
We call this area the “Venetian blind” muscle. Every time the blinds go up, so do your wrinkles! You may receive four to eight injections in the forehead muscle to relax the frontalis (forehead). We evaluate this area very carefully to avoid loss of expression and maintain brow position.
Crows Feet
Squint lines are controlled by the Orbicularis Oculi muscle that frames the side of your eyes. We will evaluate the severity of your squint lines and determine what dose will work for you.
Comfort
We use tiny needles. Topical numbing cream available upon request.
Immediately After Injections
After your injections, you may notice a raised, red “wheal” (it looks like a mosquito bite) at the site of injections. This “wheal” should disappear within 15 minutes.
Bruising, while rare, can occur at the site of Botox®, Dysport®, Xeomin® injections. We can not tell in advance who will bruise and how long the bruise will last. Following our After Care instructions help to speed the body’s natural healing process. All bruising will go away, and cosmetic concealer typically hides any signs of treatment.
