Injecting Dermal Fillers is an art. Just as a painter may use different size brushes, colors and thickness of paint, our practitioners choose one or more of the different types of dermal fillers such as Juvederm^®, Restylane^® and Radiesse^®. Dermal Fillers are used to lift, sculpt, shape, define and volumize different areas of your face. Loss of facial volume occurs over time and can be due to hereditary factors, sunlight, cigarette smoking, weight loss and oxidative stress. With Dermal Fillers we can encourage natural collagen growth, hydrate the skin, lift cheeks, smooth parentheses lines, sharpen jawlines, sculpt chins, minimize acne scaring and plump or hydrate the lips. The results are subtle and can be long-lasting.

What is Juvederm^®?

Juvederm^®  products are safe, non-animal, stabilized, biodegradable gels formed in a laboratory from highly purified bacterial cultures.  The main component is cross-linked hyaluronic acid that is molecularly identical to the hyaluronic acid (HA) found naturally in the human body. Juvederm^® adds volume to specific areas of the face. Since Juvederm^® is molecularly identical to human HA, there is a very rare incidence of allergy to the product and no skin test is required.

To convert HA molecules into a stable, lasting filler, they are bonded together, or “cross-linked,” in a specific fashion and suspended in water to make a gel. Tighter cross-linking, reflects higher percentage of HA molecules in the gel and also determines the thickness of the gel.

How Does Juvederm^® Work?

While there are many similarities between Juvederm^®® Ultra Plus XC has larger and tighter “pearls”, allowing for correction of deep lines and severe volume loss. For those clients with mild to moderate volume loss,  Juvederm^® Ultra XC  is a good choice, with smaller “pearls” and a softer result.

*With sufficient product to correct areas of concern, these fillers have been reported to last up to one year.

What does the XC mean?

XC means there is lidocaine, a numbing agent added to the gel. This helps create a more comfortable injection experience.

Vycross Cross-Linking Technology- (HA molecules of different size and weight)

These fillers can be injected a little more deeply to smooth more severe folds “V” fillers spread a little less readily than Juvederm but they are still soft.

Voluma (Cheeks)

The thickest, strongest gel, for deep injection into the cheek, to get a nice lift and volume boost and/or jawline and chin for that sharp, sculpted look.

Volbella (Lips)

The thinnest, most hydrating, spreadable gel-FDA approved for subtle lip enhancement and perfect for vertical lip lines.

Vollure (Mid-face)

Vollure has “expression technology” and is used to treat the lower third of the face, while allowing for natural facial expressions and moment.

*With sufficient product to correct areas of concern, these fillers have been reported to last up to 18 months.

DermaSculpt blunt tipped cannular is our preferred method of injecting Juvederm^® Dermal fillers. Cannulars can prevent up to 90% of bruising and swelling and most clients state they are totally comfortable and relaxed with this form of injection.

ALL Juvederm^® products can be reversed and quickly melted using a injectable enzyme called Hyaluronidase. Hyaluronidase dissolves the hyaluronic acid particles.

Why use Radiesse?

Radiesse^® comprised of calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHa) microspheres. It is a collagen stimulator, smooth and cream like in texture. Because it is calcium based, it differs from clear hyloronic acid gels such as Juvederm^® and Restylane^®. Radiesse^® is best used for structure, lift and strength, and has recently been gaining popularity when used in a “hyper-diluted form”

What is Hyper-Diluted Radiesse^®?

Consensus has shown that when Radiesse^® is properly mixed with normal saline and lidocaine, is can be injected via blunt tip cannula, into the face, neck, décolletage, hands, arms, stomach, legs and butt, just below the surface of the skin to create of bath of collagen stimulating calcium hydroxylapatite. Since Radiesse^® is a volumizer, you get a initial correction and see overall improvement of crepey skin, fine lines and wrinkles and a delayed, secondary benefit of long term collagen stimulation.

Treatment Protocols for Hyper-Diluted Radiesse^®

• Different dilutions of Radiesse^® are used for different parts of the face and body. The injection sites are first numbed with Lidocaine. Injection of Hyper-Diluted Radiesse^® is a completely painless procedure.
• Many people will require a series of injections, spaced one month and two months apart before the calcium spheres of Radisse^® stimulate collagen to satisfaction.
• Not all people are good candidates for this treatment and proper patient screening is required.
